Anzacs on the menu
Aussies are planning to chomp down on Anzac biccies this January 26, according to a new survey.
The Newspoll survey found that 71 per cent of those surveyed want to see them
on the menu this Australia Day.
The locally grown macadamia followed shortly after in favour with almost two
thirds popularity.
Not surprisingly, only a third hope to be eating
kangaroo, our national emblem, but this choice is more popular at 43 per cent among men.
The most popular non-Australian foods are green salad (89 per cent of
respondents would like to have some on our nation’s birthday), potato
salad (84 per cent) and lamb (83 per cent).
Good old snags are
craved by 76 per cent of Australians, mangoes by 74 per cent, prawns by 73 per cent and pavlova - which was originated by the Kiwis - at 68 per cent.
Men are more likely to be devouring meat options while women are
more likely to indulge in sweet treats.
