Wine's lone wolf
Georgia Beattie is no stranger to the wine industry having worked for her family business, Swords Wines, for more than seven years.

But now the entrepreneur is doing something distinctly modern for the industry with her new business that produces “wine for one”.

Lupé offers consumers a range of single-serve quality wines in a neat, convenient package that is 100 per cent recyclable.

She came up with the idea for Lupé after asking for a glass of wine at a music festival and being told it was unavailable as a result of being too hard to serve.

“Too often people at outdoor events are forced to drink things they wouldn’t usually choose,” she says.

Lupé - which means ‘lone wolf’ in Latin - were selected by the Beattie family.

There are currently four varieties, with the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Victorian Rosé chosen for a daytime light lunch, and the Victorian Chardonnay and Coonawarra Shiraz to go with dinner.

Georgia says that whilst she started with festivals in mind, there's other options like picnics and the outdoors to consider.

She also says Lupé is good way to monitor alcohol consumption, with all individual packaging labelling this content.

“Lupé allows wine drinkers to drink quality wine in a way that suits their lifestyle.”

Georgia, who completed the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) at RMIT and lives in Prahran, says her degree was a big influence on her new business.

“The RMIT degree is both practical and flexible. Our projects were relevant to the real world and could be either applied directly to my business, or put towards fine-tuning my skills."

Lupé is launching the new single-serve glass of wine at The City of Melbourne’s Melbourne Music Week, which is running from 18 to 26 November.

Excellent concept - so simple. I can't wait to get my hands on a 4 pack over summer!
